Kemi Badenoch is the new leader of the UK Conservative Party, defeating Robert Jenrick in the final round of voting.
She now leads the main opposition party against Keir Starmer’s Labour government.
She takes over from Rishi Sunak, who led the Conservatives to their worst ever election defeat in July.
During her campaign, Badenoch vowed to return the Conservatives to “first principles” and launch a series of reviews in the coming months to shape a new policy platform.

And yet here is another leader for the Tories. Why don’t they understand that it’s their platform that is obsolete ? Changing leaders like in a TV game isn’t going to make a difference. It’s the majority of MPs and advisors who needs to change in order for better thinkers to emerge. The Tories is the party that made Brexit, inflation worse than in other European countries, the 1.2 million a year legal migrants tsunami, the debt pile and led to interest rates far higher than elsewhere in Europe. It’s not one thing they got wrong but everything. Also their problem isn’t the face of the party, it’s the party itself.
Its a proud moment for the conservative and Britain as a h
Whole. It is truly a remarkable achievement.
