Jay Ellis sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for “Scene Stealers” to break down moments from his popular films and tv shows like ‘Insecure,’ ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and more. He talks about his favorite episode from ‘Insecure’ – which he reveals he still hasn’t watched – where Issa and Lawrence reunite and get real about their breakup. Plus, he breaks down all the technicalities that went behind flying in ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ what it was like joining BET’s ‘The Game,’ and seeking more challenges with his new Off-Broadway show ‘Duke & Roya.’

Haven’t been to a cgi movie (that’s what they all are) in 7 years. Just watching the trailers makes me want a refund.
That Insecure episode is one of my all time favorite TV episodes. Hearing Jay’s perspective on filming it is music to my ears.
Where has all the time gone? I’d actually forgotten that my first exposure to Ellis was on The Game. This was a great “Scene Stealers” installment. Equal parts enlightening, funny and heartfelt.
Whoever chose Season 4, Episode 8 of Insecure for Jay Ellis to unpack, please ask for a raise. This is historically the most loved episode by the audience and core fans. We often revisit this episode just to feel something again. Natasha Rothwell really wrote it beautifully and generously. The writing, the vulnerability, the acting, the climatic storytelling, etc. 🤌🏾
From the leader of the Insecure Fandom — Thank youuuu 🥹🙏🏾
Loved him in Insecure. Their relationship was beautiful but I was low key hoping Issa would of made it work with Daniel 😂
Only big things to come from Jay Ellis, great actor 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Loved this ❤
