Inside the Bubble | Ava Majdzadeh | TEDxYouth@PMSS 2

How can we truly grow as individuals if our ideas remain unchanged? The essence of improvement and evolution lies within expanding our perspectives. For many, this evolution of perspective is equated with the increase of knowledge in that area. The more you learn, the more you change. But what does one do when their main source of knowledge is inclined to reinforce what they already know rather than expand their ideas? Ava Majd, a Grade 12 student at Port Moody Secondary School delves into the dangers of this false sense of perspective evolution through social media and modern-day algorithms. Ava explores how filter bubbles distort our acquisition of knowledge and taint our world views, hindering our personal growth and shaping a narrower worldview, affecting both individual and societal progress. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
