In this episode of Minutes With, we sit down with human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, who has represented over 400 people on death row in the United States. Clive shares his unique insights into the realities of defending detainees at Guantánamo Bay, explores the possibility of the U.S. abolishing the death penalty, and exposes the “barbaric” execution methods still in use.
Thank you to Clive Stafford Smith for taking part. Found out more about the work he does at https://justiceleague.org.uk/

Referring to him as “this poor guy” is far more disgusting than the kind exit they offered him after the brutal exit he offered his victim(s).
All these commenters pointing out that the man who was executed killed someone: sure, but we teach children that two wrongs don’t make a right, and an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, so why can’t adults figure that out? The act of killing made that man a murderer, but giving him the death penalty makes the state and the whole public complicit in his murder. Revenge turns us into the evil we intend to fight.
