Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as an adult
All the North American Holidays together “would be” 3 solid months? Haven’t been to Louisiana have you. Thanksgiving rolls into Christmas, which rolls into New Years Which kicks off the weeks long Mardi Gras season, ending in late February or March. And then you pay for it with Lent.
Thanksgiving is also a celebration of glutney.
Oh, don’t forget to warm up that pecan pie and them put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top to cut the sweetness of the pecan pie.
Make that 2 Indiana families. My ex’s step-mom makes oyster dressing every year. I never could bring myself to try it.
MOST AMERICANS ARE FROM ENGLAND OR EUROPE. OR THE FULL UK.
Living “up north” as we say in the South along with being a non-native, you are confused over the terms “stuffing” and “dressing”. Stuffing is a Yankee dish made with leftover bread called such because it is often cooked stuffed in the turkey. The use of bread can result in a soggy dish. Dressing, on the other hand, as made here in the South, is made with cornbread which is cooked in a separate container. It is sometime served along side the turkey to “dress” it. Dressing made with BREAD IS NOT enjoyed in the South as you stated. Addition of oysters is not so common though I prefer it.
