    1. You need to add a transformer and tap it to a hot wire. In addition you will need some doorbell wires connected to your transformer to your indoor doorbell.

    2. @jackeroo75what if I don’t want a doorbell? Is there an option that is just a door camera that would be placed beside a door like where a doorbell would be?

    3. Hello, @chrisbush1214. Thanks forgetting in touch with us today. We’re here to help. The Doorbell Cameras Do mount to the side of the door. We will be more than happy to answer any questions that you have.

  1. Does your existing chime/door bell in the house chime when the ring doorbell is pressed. I want our existing doorbell to ring with the ring device.

    1. Hey there! Yes, that is correct! If you choose to hardwire your Ring device to your existing doorbell wires, you can certainly have you existing chime kit sound off when the button on the Video Doorbell is pushed. 2. I am going to be installing this on vinyl siding. I see that Amazon has a vinyl siding mount so you don’t have to make holes in the siding. Does this work well?

  3. Thanks for the video, I always like to see a job done before I start the work myself. I wired my up just the way you’ve described, however, my existing chime (mechanical induction type) does not ring now. I’ve checked the connection and it appears to connected ok. Any other troubleshooting tips? … thanks again!

    1. Hey there! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. To look into this further, could you send us a DM on Twitter or a PM on Facebook with the model of device that you are experiencing this with? We look forward to assisting you from there.

  4. Do not buy these ring doorbells. Subscription model. I only kept mine because it was a gift.
And the hooks to hang it on your door are so unbelievably flimsy, the neighborhood kids ripped it off the door along with the hooks to hold it on… in no short order.
Literally, they are a joke. They used plenty of plastic everywhere, except in the one place where it mattered most.. to hold the thing on your door. Total joke.
I had to fasten mine back to my door with a hose clamp, AND make my own sign for that said “Door Bell – Press to Ring” with a bl00dy arrow. Literally, the stvpldest doorbell ever.
