Rob Holmes is a private investigator. He works with major luxury-watch brands to track down fakes and stop them from getting to market.
Holmes speaks with Business Insider about how counterfeits are made in factories overseas. He gives details about how fake luxury goods are trafficked into the United States and distributed to consumers, tells us how the counterfeit industry has evolved with the rise of a new generation of “superfakes,” and gives advice about how to spot a counterfeit. He also examines a genuine Rolex, and gives tips on how to spot a genuine watch.
Holmes began investigating counterfeits during his childhood: his father, Robert Sr., was a renowned counterfeit investigator in New York in the 1980s. Holmes describes his dad’s encounters with Chinatown gangs and tells Business Insider how he and his brother are carrying on their father’s legacy through their investigations business, MI:33.

As we were preparing to publish this video, a representative from Customs and Border Protection wrote in an email: “Trade in counterfeit and pirated goods threatens America’s innovation economy, the competitiveness of our businesses, the livelihoods of U.S. workers, and, in some cases, national security and the health and safety of consumers. CBP targets and seizes imports of counterfeit and pirated goods, and enforces exclusion orders on patent-infringing and other IPR violative goods.
CBP’s interdiction efforts begin well before a conveyance or shipment arrives at a port. Advance electronic shipping information, actionable intelligence, and information sharing partnerships are critical components that enable us to quickly identify, target, and deter the entry of counterfeit and dangerous goods, including illicit drugs, in all operational environments. Advance information is a critical and effective component of CBP’s targeting and interdiction efforts.”
It threatens the corporations’ and shareholders’ insanely huge profits, not the workers
yet they allow temu to exist. temu has an office in boston, and facilitates the sale of counterfeit goods by the millions and absolutely nothing is done about it.
Ah, yes. The American innovation of Swiss watches, Italian bags, Electronics made in China, and clothing made in Bangladesh.
You guys didn’t vet this information at all
Tell them to do their jobs. I went to NYC last month and you can walk up and down time squares and see several guys with large suitcases full of fake purses, hand bags and sunglasses all with the big brands logos. They lay it all on a blanket and try to sell them as the real stuff. Lots of times it will be 3-4 ppl next to each other selling. Cops just a few feet away not doing anything.
As always the most thoughtful , well researched & eloquent watch channel around , MAMACOO keep coming !
I think selling these utterly useless luxury objects like Rolex watches is a bigger scam!
It’s not a counterfeit watch…. its a real watch. It might be a counterfeit rolex or AP. But it’s an actual real deal watch.
This guy is the epitome of the worst car salesman or the guy selling fake watches on the street. Lol.
