As parents in South East Asia get richer, they are increasingly turning to convenience foods to feed their babies.
These products are often marketed as healthy and nutritious, but many of them contain added sugar, while the same products sold in western supermarkets have no sugar.
A Unicef study of 1,600 baby foods across South East Asia found nearly half included added sugars and sweeteners.
The BBC’s Suranjana Tewari travelled to the Philippines to find out more.

Are you sure that Western baby foods have no added sugar. I think you will be disappointed if you actually go into the grocery store and find it in the hard way. They can also contains more natural sugar than what a baby really needs

Important note is if a baby is breastfed it is naturally in ketosis which helps by supporting the development of the nervous system. Baby formula is generally high carb, which means your baby will be running on sugars, and it’ll effect its development. Babies, like adults, should be using animal fat for fuel. Its our natural state
