Such an amazing teacher.
And i thought i knew the answer. 😮
This is the realistic way. For the perfect one? Look up to uncle Yan.
Wow
I didn’t know “a touch of salt” was almost a handful…
Uncle yan gotta see this
Chef Martin yan would be mad😂
Skip the chopping; smash, schemer, then chop if necessary. It won’t be needed 90 percent of the time.
All of his advice is practical right now!
Salt is ruining the knife
There’s a Chinese chef that does all this in one step and motion…
Sorry, but that wasn’t minced garlic
THANK YEW
Only Uncle Yan can do it in one motion
Today 10/16/25 I searched for Chef Gordon’s help on this because I peeled garlic for around 30 to 60 minutes of peeling 1st so Minicing garlic is much easier
All the comments whining about how its “too much salt” are kinda funny tbh, just goes to show how so many people cook without really understanding anything theyre doing. It wasnt that much salt (esp since its kosher salt) and you can always just add less salt later on in other steps, its all to taste not to measurement
Salt, salt, salt, salt, salt on and on and on
Salt first, underneath the garlic before squishing. It prevents it oozing into the board better. Obviously. Shout out Urban Peasant.
Take this L boi 🗣️
I love Gordon. Thanks for the vid, Gordon!
