Onsite with Matt Cheney EP4: Georgetown
Good morning and welcome to episode 4 of Onsite with Matt Cheney, a collection of short videos following me throughout metro Washington to neighborhoods I serve as a realtor. Today we are in Georgetown.
Known for its high end shops, restaurants and clubs as well as foreign embassies. It also has a glamorous past with many well-known past residents including JFK and Jackie Onassis.
Georgetown was a small port and trading village that pre dates Washington DC. It is debated if Georgetown was named for the two Georges of the trading post or the King of England. It was founded in 1751 in the Province of Maryland and was part of the land that was donated by the State of Maryland after George Washington had surveyed the area and recommended the site for the Nation’s Capital.
In the past year there have been 140 sales of homes, rowhomes and townhomes with an average sales price of $1.98M with the top sale being $7M. The top sale in the past year was a condo at the Ritz for $8M at $1,300 psf.
