Why It’s Almost Impossible to Solve a Rubik’s Cube in Under 3 Seconds | WIRED

The current world record for solving a Rubik’s cube is 3.47 seconds. Could it be faster? WIRED’s Robbie Gonzalez explores the mind-boggling math and finger-twisting world of speed cubing. 1. This video makes me think if I’m smarter than I think lol

I learned to solve a Rubik’s cube on youtube in one afternoon on a holiday and could solve in under one minute in three days, the guy said it would take 2 weeks to do it in 90 seconds?

    1. Well depending on how many hours a day you invest it can take a lot less. I dont think solving the cube under a minute is a task that would take 2 weeks. If you are really dedicated i think 3 days are possible.

  2. 0:28 it does not take a few weeks of “dedicated” practice. I devised a system I have taught beginners in 2 hours or less.

    1. Ye I watched a video and I could do it in a few hours.. I learne Cfop in like 2weeks that took forever lol

  3. Are you still sure, its impossible to solve the cube under 3s after the current record of 3.05s?

  4. A few weeks?

It only took me a couple hours to learn how to solve one by watching a video. It’s really not that complicated, it’s just memorizing algorithms and understanding what objective you are currently on and how to solve it

    1. Same took me 1 hour and 20 minutes with a video of a cuber and then do it a fee times and you can unlearn it after that

  5. I wouldn’t say someone who’s memorised the algorithms to solve a Rubik’s cube has actually “solved” it.

  6. For anybody wondering for latest Record , it is 3.05 second now…by Xuanyi Geng of China, solved on 13 April 2025
