To win big at Texas Hold-Em, a player needs considerable skill, no small amount of luck…and it wouldn’t hurt to know what every other player is holding, either. WIRED’s Andy Greenberg teams up with casino cheating expert Sal Piacente and hacker/researcher Joseph Tartaro to exploit an automatic card shuffler used in casinos everywhere to engineer a big win. This is Hacklab: I Cheated At Poker By Hacking A Casino Card Shuffling Machine.

Poker games need to go back to the hand shuffle. And the person with the button gets to cut the cards.
Or actually under the gun or some random fair way.
basic requirement is to be slightly bald and have moustache n beard
This also shows proof that there’s no way we can ever really trust the casinos when they have a shuffler at any card-based table game where you are playing the house!
But casinos would never use this to cheat you… right? right? 🤣
When Doug says he’s heard cheating stories outside of casinos and not many at casinos.. That’s because you can’t accuse a casino as easily. I know for a fact casinos cheat. But they hold all the power on their private property so good luck getting anyone to believe you.
As a pro player, I have always questioned for years the ability for he shuffler to put the cards back in order, which meant the machine knew which cards were which, which means it was always possible for someone to cheat using the machine.
This could really go so much further with a player who understands the game. I don’t need to know if I should raise, or go all in, or anything really. I just need to know when I have the best hand by the end. The rest I can make look very good and never lose. By knowing that by the end I will win, I can deduce nearly exactly what the other player has, what cards are going to come, and know how to maximize my bets based on logic. The potential of this is insane in a pro’s hand. Would never worry about money ever again for the rest of your life if you could get access inside the casino, which honestly is likely not that hard given the relationships built between player and worker for pros.
J4o hand is extremly obvious
hacking electric vehicle to kill someone that no one have to bare the consequences.
If this can happen in the (substancially) regulated casino’s in the U.S., what are my chances of being cheated in smaller casino’s around the world?
9:48 eHternet port.
that little shot at android audio quality was not funny
Chauncey Billups be like: 👍🏽
Add security features until its not secure anymore! Why is there a USB and internet port on a card shuffler?
$30 Card shufflers at walmart are unhackable.
I know I can’t prove it but Venetian Las Vegas shufflers are rigged…I’ve been playing for 20+ years and have never seen as many coolers in such a short window than I see there
How is it no suspicious the guy with the phone folded every. Single. Hand. In order to see what was what
Both of those players are TERRIBLE poker players. But these machines…. if they can rig poker, they can DEFINITELY rig Blackjack.
I used to do the same thing by hand nobody knew any different. Don’t drink and play and don’t play with strangers 😂
Wow, makes me wonder if casinos do something to blackjack shufflers. Also, scary how easy it is for a person to cheat shuffeling by hand too.
Mike Postle approves.
