Horses is an indie horror game by Italian development studio Santa Ragione which has been the subject of a lot of controversy recently following its banning by Steam. And also by the Epic Store. Which means substantially less.

Horses has you take the role of Anselmo, a young Italian man who has been sent to work on a farm for two weeks in the summer. There he meets a farmer who grows vegetables, plows fields, and imprisons sinners in horse masks before brainwashing them into becoming livestock. As is tradition.

The game was allegedly banned by Steam for its extreme, rule-breaking content. So in this video I’ll be taking a look at the game and seeing if a ban was truly the correct option. (it wasn’t)

    1. Truly an insane interpretation. All the horses are literally humans who do human things.

    2. @lalalalalalalalalala-js5xli don’t know if you got what I meant with my original comment, so here is a better explanation: we are so used to treating animals as lesser things, who have no thought, their feelings don’t matter and all. But when we do same thing to “horses” With human bodies, now that’s different? And i know these were ordinary folk before the capturing and brainwashing, but still

  1. if some greek guy on hollywood made this, it would be getting oscars, but because its a video game, it gets banned.

  2. Still worth it to play after watching this? Cuz I feel like a lot of the hardest hitting parts were spoiled here. What you guys think?

  3. One thing I found horrifying about this game is that (personally) there are slight moments among the monotony of the chores where you completely forget these are humans. It lasts a second but when you read “feed horses, chop wood, feed dog” you just see those as feeding actual horses and dogs

  4. 19:35-20:08 This is a pet peeve that I’ve learned the hard way (and still am learning), where people can’t talk about something or their opinion on something without feeling the need to address whatever elephant in the room exists (or at least feel obligated to do so). The only difference with this game compared to the examples at the top of my head is that the elephant in the room in this case is far less serious and even more unnecessary to keep constantly bringing up. It’s just “the game was banned from Steam and the Epic Games Store” and that’s all there is to it.

  5. it’s so fucking tame man. if you made gabe newell watch fellini satyricon or any pasolini he’d probably burst into fucking flames

  6. I’m almost ashamed for laughing at the “horse iceberg” bit, someone could talk to me about the most horrible things for 2 hours straight and I feel like I’d still unconsciously chuckle if you showed me a funny picture of a gorilla with a hat out of nowhere shortly after.
