Death Toll Rises to 12 After Massive Explosion at Military Plant Near Russia’s Chelyabinsk | APT

At least twelve people have been killed and five others injured following a massive explosion at a military plant in the Russian city of Kopeisk, near Chelyabinsk. The blast, which occurred on Wednesday (October 22), sent a huge fireball into the sky, according to videos posted on social media.

Footage verified by Reuters shows flames and smoke rising from the site, captured by passing motorists and nearby surveillance cameras. The explosion reportedly took place at a facility involved in ammunition and defense production.

Chelyabinsk regional governor Aleksei Teksler confirmed the incident, saying the fire was quickly extinguished and that there was no evidence linking the explosion to drone activity. Emergency crews and investigators are now working to determine the cause of the deadly blast.

This marks one of the deadliest industrial incidents in Russia this year, raising questions about safety conditions at defense-related facilities.
