Authorities say Celeste Rivas Hernandez had likely been dead for several weeks before her decomposed body was discovered on September 8, 2025, tucked inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke (aka D4vd). The Tesla had been parked in the Hollywood Hills and was ticketed for violating a 72-hour parking ordinance just days before being impounded. A foul odor emanating from the impound lot prompted investigators to open the vehicle and find her remains.
A search warrant was executed at a Hollywood Hills residence linked to D4vd, and electronic devices and other items were seized for further analysis. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has identified the remains as those of the 15-year-old missing since April 2024, although the cause and manner of death are still pending further forensic tests. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed, and D4vd has not been publicly labeled a suspect, but he is reportedly cooperating with the investigation. Meanwhile, public and media focus has turned to their purported relationship, the now-deleted livestream clips showing interactions between them, potential boundary issues, and all the physical and behavioral cues that might shed light on how Celeste came to be in that car.
