Biomedical scientist Dr. Andrea Love returns to WIRED to answer a new slate of the internet’s burning questions about pseudosciences, health fads, and false wellness claims. How can someone avoid falling into the trap of pseudoscience? Why do people swear by lion’s mane mushroom as a supplement? Does acupuncture do anything? Is it really that bad for your body to eat late at night? Do more children have diabetes today than in the past? Answers to these questions and many more await on this brand-new third edition of WIRED Pseudoscience Support.

I don’t know if you’ll approve of this, but I hope that at least you won’t mind a little shout out for dr. Andrea since I didn’t see any mention of it in the description. Dr. Love has a site called ”ImmunoLogic” where she talks about and debunks claims like the ones mentioned in this video. It’s really worth checking it out.
Avoiding chemicals isn’t the only answer, Googling them (for translation) helps though… and I am a Scientist (not a Chemist). I trust EWG about products, BTW.
Please also get Dr Jessica Knurick to do one of these !
Other thing I disagree is vaccination as we have it today, when small children with very weak immunities are vaccinated by 6 different diseases at the same time. Ofc its dangerous in my opinion – imagine you being a bit cut, burned, punched several times, got inflamation and I dunno what else in order to have immunity in later date … Why would you do it all at the same time when the child is small, when you can space it up a bit? lets say 2 week after each one. I am pretty sure, that would lower health risks of people after they received vaccines ….
We need an episode on which of these treatments or supplements can really help!
Great video. But a scientist always going to side with science. Even tho science isn’t always right. How about the anthrax vaccine
Science, by definition, is always trying to find proofs to understand our world better. If you are not siding with science you are siding with random beliefs designed to scare you, with no proof. most of the time the ”studies” made by non-scientists or qualified people are fundamentally flawed and should not be taken seriously, because it’s objectively wrong.
Woman stop. You cannot be that beautiful and so stupidly smart at the same time, handing smackdowns to all this pseudoscience ❤.
Did you guys purchase all that spinach? These guys actually put in lot of effort to make these video. Least I could do is like the video.
2:08 I’m curious if pesticides like glyphosate can bioaccumulate. If so, then how long would it really take to reach dangerous levels if a majority of produce contains it?
Thank you for this informative and captivating podcast
3/4th year biochem major here. Pretty much all multicellular life gets cancer. It’s just part of the package of being a DNA-based life form. Plants tend to be much better at controlling cancer once it occurs and can generally survive abnormal growths much better than animals.
I love facts and science. Even more when they are shouted. 😂
The Nobel Laureate, Linus Pauling, started the vitamin C megadosing concept in the 1970s. Not the subject of his Nobel Prizes. He eventually died of cancer.
Can you answer to why you support big pharmacies and who pays you? Because I’m sure if you did no one would believe you stuff you are saying are safe is not true why not use beet root instead of red 40?
Wired does it again! Give us more.
I find it harder to fall asleep if I eat LATE at night.
Why are these pseudoscience worms disgusting liars, while accusing everyone else of being liars?
Very informative. Thank you, Dr. Andrea Love! 🙂
Wish someone had asked her about antibiotic resistance…
Never believe anyone talking about health, who is such self-confident like this woman.
Maybe identical twins may react the same way to everything, but in life and reality you cannot find two different people perfectly reacting with same results.
A responsible doctor would never talk in front of other doctors like this woman, never. Otherwise that doctor would lose all scientific credibility at once.
This video was made as part of a business, for what this woman is paid for. Political motivation is quite likely as an additional part taking this.
Make sure, that people talking about health, stating anything with 100% confidence is someone you should forget. These are the very people who forced people to stop eating fats and start eating sugar as energy supplement. And when the tide turns, these come up again with forced 100% confidence with a newer ‘eat fat, stop sugar’ slogen.
A good doctor is always sceptic, always thinks about many perspectives and gladly admits when has no idea what can cause your problem or sickness.
Dr. Andrea should go on to Bill Maher’s show. That guy is nuts.
1:06 I bet none of these people can pronounce dihydrogen monoxide but we kind of need that to live.
21:50 these people will let random, non-medically trained people put unregulated whatever directly into their veins but vaccines given by actual medical professionals are a bridge too far
Encouraged to hear not everyone in your country is insane.
