At least 35 people have been killed and 43 more injured after a car ploughed into a crowd of people at a stadium in Zhuhai, China on Monday, according to authorities.
A 62-year-old male driver, surnamed Fan, is alleged to have driven an SUV through a barrier and into Zhuhai Sports Centre in what local police described as a “serious and vicious attack”.
Chinese media reported that many elderly people, as well as teenagers and children, were among the injured.
Fan was arrested while trying to flee, police said, and is currently in a coma as a result of self-inflicted wounds.
The BBC’s China correspondent Stephen McDonnell reports from the scene, where locals appeared to attempt to keep journalists away.

BBC, dont go overboard, you will see similar incidents here too , by peaceful radicals, watch out!
The second biggest economy is afraid of a reporter?
The BBC reporter has shown no sympathy towards the victims of this car-hit incident. His report action is deemed as an offense to the vicitims according to the Chinese culture therefore the local people got angry. I urge the BBC reporters to understand some Chinese culture before do their report in China. Chinese citizens specially in their 50s, 60s are very self-pride of their Chinese heritage and sometime their patrisim will make them very offensive.
My god…
BBC news caught making fake news in China on site of incident. Distortion of truth by omissions and lies. Receiving end of the 1.6 billion anti China propaganda ?
