i have my own interpretation of that song. David told in comment on tik tok, that this is about his faith, but he wrote it in poetic way to understand it in different ways. so in my opinion that could be about that human is sinful (coming album is about dualism of world, you know – good and bad, light and darkness). so the verse “save me from the sickness that i love” can be a realization of the danger of sin, what is comfortable for us. then is “take me to your sweet oblivion” ,- i think the sweet oblivion could means God’s mercy, that can make Jesus forgives us ours sins and makes it clear so it’s oblivion – forgotten. the next David write about that he is he kneels before the altar, so maybe its reference to sinful nature of human, he begs for forgiveness this sin what makes him comfortable (“sickness that i love”).
and i have another interpretation that could be about sacrifice (“i’d bleed for you”) and that the world is only one sec, and we will pass away and be forgotten. that shows us the music video.
