David Henrie and Selena Gomez are back as Justin and Alex Russo in “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” and the two didn’t miss a beat! “Aside from the pressure, the actual doing it was very effortless,” David told Access Hollywood. “The second they said action, Selena and I were just like, bang, right back to where we were, like we didn’t miss a beat. We both have matured, we’re now older versions of ourselves, but we didn’t miss a beat. The spark is still there. And we felt it, afterwards we were like, ‘We freaking did it.’” When talking about the new series, David said it will feel like a “warm hug” for original “Wizards” fans. He also talked about Selena’s fashion influence on the original show. David and Selena have remained close since the show ended, and David said the “Only Murders in the Building” star is an aunt to his three kids. “She buys them these little miniature pony things that they ride and all sorts of [things.] Selena is Tia Selena,” he said. “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” premieres with two episodes Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and streams on Disney+ the next day.
