Science is proving that the majority of mental health and addiction issues stem from Complex Trauma. Complex Trauma begins to occur in childhood, so truly understanding it requires looking at our childhoods and our parents/caregivers critically, honestly and compassionately. It isn’t always easy but worth the exploration. #addiction #addictionrecovery #mentalhealth #mental #timfletcher #complextrauma #complextraumaawareness #healing #fyp

Absolutely right. I stepped in to help my niece and then her sons to raise them due shocking parenting that included Extreme Violence, Alcoholism, Neglect. I did take 2 of them to seek Counselling for them, but my Niece was in self denial and the boys rebelled to life threatening behaviours. My niece, no matter what I did, could not accept her Parents did not show responsibilty in the end to her, She in turn, then continued this neglect onto her sons. They are now In their mid Twenties and have their own Children, however, both are suffering Depression. They both Work (which I am proud of in them), but one both self medicate and both have threatened to take their lives. Thats how bad the disgusting lack of care from Parenting has cost them. I always say to Parents, its not about money or having the best of everything that gives stability to a child…..it is simply LOVE. I found the years extremely disturbing to go through with them. What must they have made of it at the time is still destroying their peace of mind.I continue to talk with them , and I try to explain to get some counselling. I was always beside them and it was Life Threatening (not joking). My focus was on them and still is , and that is why I agree here , that Parenting causes and is Number 1 of all PTSD and Mental Health problems. I am much older now and it is still shocking to think of the ‘price’ they all paid as Infants, and young children, to now Adults with their own Children. They are still paying the price of Mental Anguish to this day. I discuss it and encourage them them to get some help, continuously.
Don’t ever give up encouraging them and guiding them to healing, you’re doing remarkable work by putting yourself out and going through the pain of witnessing the grief of seeing lack of love.
There will be some light one day,
I believe in that for you 💝
FINALLY!!
So absolutely true!
Every single person, whom wants to bring up a child to this world, should get themselves out from their trauma through healing, via any form of therapy.
Tim’s ‘training’ should be mandatory to everyone.
I agree. Bessel van der kolk says the same. DSM 1 was only supposed to be used as a loose guide to aid doctors, not a holy grail.
