Fat is a word that is constantly associated with something bad. It can be seen in everyday lives and media. Being proud of our body type can be challenging at first, and even when the whole world suggests that we think otherwise, it is still up to us how we define ourselves. It is up to us to change our perspective. Fat is not a bad word unless you mean for it to be, as it can be words of acknowledgment that people did grow up having a bigger body type, which could heal our younger selves. Elora Picson is a photographer, writer, and the founder of the Body Empowerment Photography brand, Fat Girl Glow. She has a decade of work in creatives, production, marketing, writing, sales, and photography.
She has been featured in online publications like Cosmopolitan Philippines, Female Network, and Preen.ph, for her advocacy for body positivity and acceptance. She was also featured in the book written by PLUMP.ph, “The Big Fat Book of Self-Love”. She has worked with the Body Acceptance advocacy group, Hi Smithy, and the American Chamber of Commerce Center for Training & Development on championing Camera Confidence in the Workplace.
Elora spearheads Camera Confidence Workshops around Metro Manila where she empowers participants to love and accept their bodies in the now and teaches them her most important lesson: Fat is not a bad word.
