For decades, Black Americans formed the backbone of the Democratic Party, voting by overwhelming margins for Democratic candidates. While most Black voters are expected to cast their ballots for Kamala Harris, polls suggest that support for her might be softening, particularly among Black men.
Sabrina Tavernise travels to Georgia, a key swing state, with two “Daily” producers, Lynsea Garrison and Sydney Harper, to speak with one family about their experiences through the decades.

A lot of black people are upset that Harris lies about her race
The Democratic Party started moving to the right with Carter and then even farther to the right after Reagan, as had the majority of white America.
It saddens me that we’ve expected the first black president to easily and magically make change for us. Did we expect this next advancement would come without struggle and no opposition working against us. We forget every step forward is going to be a long battle and the work is never done. Don’t forget the teachings of our great leader Dr. King
Class issues are trumping identity politics. Trump pretends to care about the last wealthy, half Americans, whereas Biden and Kamala pretended that America does not have an economic problem.
I give the Southern Slavers credit. They really knew how to evolve to keep black folks in chains.
