Beyoncé – when you start bellowing to some “Jolene”, whether by the pleading words of Dolly, or by your lyrics equally pathetic, all you’re really saying is that you have lost a level of communication with your spouse. The world does not need your lyrics or Dolly’s, they just want your bord and needy men to stay at home and leave the single ladies alone. Amen to commenter below “please take my man” …. We don’t need 50 years, we’re already there. Nobody wants your man dear, just make sure he wears his wedding ring to social clubs and bars. OH …. but that may foil his plan with the “Jolenes” who, as it turns out, are very honest ladies. Slimy married men are never what the “Jolenes” want. They have far more self-respect than to take your leftovers.
Jolene was never the problem. This lyrics is honestly so anti-feminist…
“You can have him Jolene” by Chapel Hart is such a better tribute to the original song in my opinion.
If he was happy he wouldn’t have been with Jolene
