http://JewintheCity.com YouTuber and video maker Peter Santenello has had a desire to tell the stories about communities that mainstream media won’t cover. He’s traveled all over the world, sharing an insider’s perspective on less known communities. A few months ago, he was invited to Brooklyn to meet and film many members of the Hasidic community. He and most of his hundreds of thousands of YouTube viewers walked away with a profoundly different understanding of the community and a newfound respect.

Ben Shapiro and his sister on youtube have given me the most awareness about Orthodox Jews/Judaism. I had never heard of the sad story of an ex-ultra conservative Jew until Unorthodox. Which I haven’t seen but have heard some buzz about it. I REALLY hope Peter does an investigation soon of the Orthodox Jews! I am very interested. I am a serious Christian. But Jews have always been God’s special people
In the Orthodox Jewish world we tend to be very comfortable with each other even as strangers, because culturally we learn that all Jews are one. (Yes we’re human & not always consistent with this value, but it’s ingrained in us & most of us live up to it.)
27:00 Many Orthodox Jews either don’t have TVs & radios, or don’t pay as much attention to the media as other communities do. Yes, we usually know what’s going on, but more peripherally rather than being so dependent on news. So as much as our community suffered from the initial pandemic, I suspect Chassidim, etc. weren’t as psychologically affected by the media.
We need all the Peters we can get: Jewish, Amish, Christian or whatever faith one belongs to or doesn’t, we first of all need to be sisters and brothers.. Peter is just a regular guy doing the work of a prophet; teaching us to be kind and to respect everyone.
