Alright people who crap on Grandpa Joe clearly haven’t analysed the film enough. He had no motivation to get out of bed because his family was living in a depressive state as they couldn’t afford a normal life with enough food to be nourished and Charlie’s mum wasn’t working a high paying job. Yet Charlie getting his hopes up on getting the Golden Ticket was Grandpa Joe’s only source of happiness because he loved seeing Charlie excited for once. So he got out of bed just so he could experience this wonderful opportunity Charlie received as his dream came true and he wanted to be apart of that because that made him happy again. Sure it wasn’t a good move on his part to steal the fizzy lifting drinks but we have to consider that he was very old and he only wanted to have fun with Charlie. I agree Willy Wonka did nothing wrong by yelling at them for it but the reason why Grandpa Joe was so stubborn to attack him for not giving Charlie the prize because he didn’t want this dream to be taken away from Charlie
Honestly I think Glinda should get a pass because OZ is all in Dorothy’s dream. Nothing Glinda does makes sense because she’s a product of Dorothy’s mind.
And while I do agree with most of what you said about Scarlet and Rhett, I must disagree with you calling them racist. Because ironically, both characters treat the African American characters better than they treat anybody else in the movie and in the book.
The police in WELCOME TO REALITY. The police in BLADE RUNNER and Tyrel. Macintosh in THE MACINTOSH MAN, Paul Newman. The Lawman who refuses to help Butch in BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, he was only interested in being a butt-covering-bearcat. It was in societies best interest if he told Butch “If you surrender to me, I will wire the President and ask him to give you full pardons if you agree to fight in the Spanish American war. But I cannot promise you that he will agree to this. Would the two of you agree to that.” If I was the President, I would have taken that deal. Since both of them are HIGHLY skilled gun fighters. And they are very likely to die in that war anyway. And if they survived, they could stay in the Army until they retired.
Harry is not a villain, he is just doing his job.
