Yikes! What a first meeting on the “job.”😮
I wasn’t aware that our beloved Suzie Pleshette guest starred in this series. Most of Chrysler Theatre’s episodes have top-notch narratives and some of Hollywood’s finest actors in pivotal roles. Suzanne Pleshette is always magnificent in whatever genre she chooses. A wonderful actress and glamouress too, this was a combination you rarely found. The narrative here is mind-boggling with the creepy Stanley Baker adding to the confusion. Why she decides to marry him here is not known; she certainly wasn’t in love with him. Once married, he literally shuts her out of his life. May be it was his name and the fame he derived from his writing that drew her to him – you know, the power thing. What is excellent about this episode – besides the beautiful Pleshette – is the presence of the very handsome John Saxon. Coming from Italian and Spanish descent in real life, he uses his knowledge of the language, replete with authentic accent, As a con-man-cum-chauffeur that leads him to falling madly in love with the boss’ wife and vice-versa, Mr. Saxon is more than convincing. How it ends, you’ll be surprised. Do see this wonderful episode for the sake of Pleshette and Saxon, two of Hollywood best stars-cum-actors of the 50;s and 60’s.
Well said! I’ve always found Ms. Pleshette a very fine actress in everything in which she appeared, always striking the right tone for the role, always very natural, lovely yet very American, too.
Her debut in Rome Adventure with Troy Donahue had me swooning at the of 12 years old. So sad to know as her star rose his fell. Their marriage was so brief. I heard she knew it was a mistake after 17 days.
Good movie
thank you
THOSE EYES!
Stanley The Manly Baker! Wowza! Suzanne Pleshette was all over television back then.
Excellent!
John Saxon acted in films & on TV as did Suzanne Pleshette who was in many melodramas in the 1960s with Troy Donohue & other good looking young charmers, but established herself as Bob Newhart’s wife on his eponymous show.
Stanley Baker–a great actor, producer & one of the emerging British actors of the 1950s along with Laurence Harvey, Sean Connery, David MacCallum, Oliver Reed, R. Harris, T. Courtenay, R. Shaw, R. Burton, etc. He made some great films with American ex-pat director from HUAC, Cy Endfield. I’m especially fond of his film, “Eve” with Jeanne Moreau. Unfortunately, cancer killed him. Many smoked and/or drank, then got sick & died.
He’s one of my two favorite British actors. The other is the geatest actor of all time — bar none — Charles Laughton.
I’ve always appreciated Stanley Baker, but darn it. Disapproving of dogs will not stand.
Rest in paradise, players. Pace e luce. ✨️
Loved her outfits ❤
